DayTape is a private video diary app. We take your privacy seriously. Here's exactly what happens with your data.

What we collect

Video and audio recordings
When you capture a thought, your video is recorded on your device. To generate transcripts and takeaways, your audio is sent to our AI processing service (fal.ai) and then deleted from their servers after processing.

Transcripts and takeaways
The text generated from your recordings is stored on your device.

Nudges and calendar data
When you schedule a nudge, that data syncs with your device's calendar. We don't store your calendar data.

Basic analytics
We collect anonymous usage data (e.g., app opens, features used) to improve DayTape. This data cannot identify you.

What we don't do

• We don't sell your data. Ever.
• We don't share your recordings, transcripts, or takeaways with third parties for advertising.
• We don't train AI models on your personal content.
• We don't store your video files on our servers.

Third-party services

fal.ai — We use fal.ai to transcribe your audio and extract takeaways. Audio is processed and not retained after transcription.

Apple — If you subscribe to DayTape, payment is handled by Apple. We don't see your payment details.

Your control

• All your entries, transcripts, and nudges live on your device.
• Delete the app and your local data goes with it.
• You can delete individual entries at any time.
