DayTape is a private video diary app. We take your privacy seriously. Here's exactly what happens with your data.
Video and audio recordings
When you capture a thought, your video is recorded on your device. Transcription happens on-device using Apple's speech recognition — your audio never leaves your phone. The resulting text transcript is then sent to our AI service (fal.ai) to generate summaries and takeaways.
Transcripts and takeaways
The text generated from your recordings is stored on your device and synced to the cloud if you're signed in.
Nudges and calendar data
When you schedule a nudge, that data syncs with your device's calendar. We don't store your calendar data.
Basic analytics
We collect anonymous usage data (e.g., app opens, features used) to improve DayTape. This data cannot identify you.
fal.ai — We use fal.ai to analyze your transcripts and extract summaries and takeaways. Only text is sent, never audio. Text is processed and not retained.
Supabase — We use Supabase to securely store and sync your entries, nudges, and settings across devices when you're signed in.
Apple — If you subscribe to DayTape, payment is handled by Apple. We don't see your payment details.
